We love the simplicity of Tango and it’s hidden complexity (often mistakenly referred to as “boring”). What we don’t like are those that turn Tango into a visible show of “funky” moves and gimmicks (often mistakenly referred to as “unique”). It often seems as though the Tango public is never happy with “boring” Tango (i.e., a dance which includes a lot of walking and basic – although not necessarily simple – steps).
We’ve read many blogs that praise this couple. We’ve read how they are so “creative”, “fun”, and “unique”. Why can’t Tango be accepted the way it is – as a dance of the people and as a culture expressed in the context of a social dance?
